Mercedes driver George Russell has spoken about his return to training after the New Year break.
“Everyone in Formula 1 needs a break, but to be honest I was itching to get back to work. It’s not long before the first race, and the first day back is a step towards that. The great thing about being back is that you see how motivated everyone is to fight and see how the car performs on the track.
I started training with a coach on January 2. We’ve been training for a few weeks now and are gradually getting into shape. The last thing you want is to overdo it and get injured. I still continued training during the break so I wasn’t sitting around all day. For me, sport is not just about working on the body, it’s a great way to feel good and maintain mental health. That’s why I don’t want to stop,” Russell said, according to GPblog.
